In 1990 Jeffrey Soleimani was part of the pioneering team that brought the art of Handwoven Aubusson from France to China.
At the time antique French Aubusson rugs were commanding premiums in auctions, and the demand was high with little inventory to source.Although few workshops still made Aubusson rugs in France, Aubusson weaving was labor intensive, prohibiting it from being marketable.

Our team employed French Artisans, skilled in designing, weaving and color matching to teach Chinese weavers the art of French Tapestry weaving known as Aubusson carpets.

Once proficient with Aubusson rugs, Hand-woven Tapestries were produced. Originally starting with still life, panels and verdure scenes, then gradually romantic, gothic, court & battle scenes.

Lastly the ultimate of French luxurious rugs known as Savonnerie, were created. Once exclusive to French Royalty, this production was the pinnacle of hand knotted rugs worldwide and still remains as one of the finest rug productions to date.

Today, productions and productivity in China has diminished, here at ModRen we offer curated selections of these elegant irreplaceable weavings
